Television’s biggest night returned Sunday with the 77th Emmy Awards. Netflix’s breakout hit Adolescence led the field with six wins, including a history-making moment: 15-year-old Owen Cooper became the youngest male actor ever to win in any acting category.
Apple TV+ comedy The Studio cemented its place in Emmy history, taking home four awards Sunday — including Best Comedy Series — and breaking the record for most wins ever by a comedy in a single year when combined with its nine Creative Arts Emmys.
HBO Max’s The Pitt secured three awards, including Best Drama Series, edging out The White Lotus and Severance. In another milestone moment, Tramell Tillman (Severance) became the first Black actor to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.
Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the ceremony and introduced a unique incentive to keep speeches short: for every second under the 45-second limit, he pledged $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of America, deducting $1,000 for every second over. In the end, Bargatze upped the ante himself — personally pledging $250,000, with CBS adding $100,000 to the donation.
