Apple pulled the wraps off its iPhone 17 lineup Tuesday, headlined by the all-new iPhone Air — the company’s thinnest and most radically redesigned device since the iPhone X in 2017.
At just 5.6mm thick, the $999 iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch display, a titanium frame, and Apple’s new A19 Pro chip with advanced AI. It also packs upgraded cameras, including a 48-megapixel Fusion sensor that can capture front and rear video simultaneously, plus Apple’s new “Center Stage” framing technology. Apple claims that it’s the most durable and power-efficient iPhone yet.
The Air sits alongside the $799 iPhone 17 and higher-end Pro models, which received incremental upgrades like larger displays, stronger batteries, and improved durability. Still, the Air is clearly Apple’s big bet to reignite excitement in its flagship product — and pave the way for a rumored foldable iPhone expected in 2026.
Apple stock was little changed Wednesday after falling 1.5% the previous day, as investors weigh whether the Air’s sleek redesign will be enough to drive a new upgrade cycle.
