Anime Reigns Again at the Box Office

Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc slashed its way to No. 1 this weekend, earning $17.3 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters and outpacing Black Phone 2 and the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.

The film follows a demon hunter whose head and arms transform into chainsaws, blending stylized action with emotional storytelling. Adapted from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s hit manga and produced by Sony’s Crunchyroll, the standalone movie builds on the momentum of August’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which set an anime box office record with $70 million.

The rest of the field saw Black Phone 2 drop to second place with $13 million in its sophomore weekend, while Regretting You, a Colleen Hoover adaptation, debuted with $12.9 million. Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, opened to $9.1 million, earning a B+ CinemaScore.

With audiences rewarding anime’s cinematic expansion, Chainsaw Man marks another milestone in the genre’s growing global influence — and another major win for Crunchyroll.
