The Songwriters Hall of Fame unveiled its 2026 nominees — a lineup that bridges generations and genres.
Eligible 20 years after their first major release, nominees this year include a mix of non-performing writers and artists who’ve defined entire eras of sound. Performing nominees range from pioneers like David Byrne of Talking Heads, LL Cool J, Kenny Loggins, and the Go-Go’s to contemporary stars such as Taylor Swift and P!nk.
Among the non-performers are legendary collaborators Walter Afanasieff (“All I Want for Christmas Is You”), Christopher “Tricky” Stewart (“Single Ladies”), and Terry Britten and Graham Lyle (“What’s Love Got to Do With It”). This year’s ballot underscores the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s unique mission: to honor those whose work forms the backbone of modern music.
From KISS to KC and the Sunshine Band, the new nominees represent the full spectrum of songwriting. The 2026 inductees will be announced early next year ahead of the June 11 gala in New York.
