Summers usually have a distinct soundtrack, but 2025 seems to be closing out without a consensus “song of the summer.”
Despite releases from several stars, none managed to dominate radio, streaming, and social media at the same time. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” briefly hit No. 1 before fading, while Justin Bieber’s “Daisies” and Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” never quite reached full ubiquity.
The year’s biggest chart success, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” has spent 10 weeks at No. 1 but doesn’t fit the mold of a traditional summer hit. Streaming data reflects the summer lull: only three of 2025’s top 10 most-streamed tracks were released this year, suggesting a slowdown in breakout hits.
Without a uniting anthem in our collective consciousness, this summer’s music scene has felt more fragmented than years’ past.
