Tame Impala released his fifth studio album Deadbeat, a 12-track journey that marks a bold new era for the artist. Clocking in at just a little under an hour, the project sees Kevin Parker fuse his signature dreamlike psych-pop with deeper electronic and dance influences.
Deadbeat follows 2020’s The Slow Rush, the Grammy-nominated album that cemented Tame Impala’s position at the intersection of rock, pop, and electronica. This new release, however, feels more expansive and immediate, weaving a sonic landscape that balances euphoria with melancholy.
Featuring no guest artists, Deadbeat emphasizes Parker’s meticulous control over every detail. The project continues his tradition of crafting music that feels simultaneously intimate and cinematic — equally at home in headphones or on festival stages.
To celebrate the release, Parker recorded a new Tiny Desk Concert with NPR. The set features both new and classic tracks, including “Dracula,” “Borderline,” “Loser,” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” for a fitting bridge between past phases and the new era.
