MLB postseason action is officially underway, with several star-studded squads vying for the Commissioner’s Trophy.
In the American League, Toronto (AL East champs) claimed the top seed and home-field advantage, while Seattle captured its first AL West crown since 2001. Both earn first-round byes. Cleveland, which stormed back to win the Central, will host Detroit, while the Yankees and Red Sox meet in a high-stakes Wild Card showdown.
In the National League, Milwaukee secured the overall No. 1 seed and home field through the World Series. Philadelphia took the East and the NL’s second bye, while the perennial powerhouse Dodgers host the Reds. The Cubs return to October baseball against the Padres in another Wild Card matchup.
The playoffs began yesterday with the best-of-three Wild Card series, followed by the Division Series Oct. 4–11, league Championship Series in mid-October, and World Series opening Oct. 24.
