Two Icons, One Record

A one-of-a-kind Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant card just set a new benchmark in the collectibles market, selling for $12.93 million at Heritage Auctions — the most ever paid for a sports card.

The 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Dual Logoman Autographs card, featuring signatures and jersey patches from both NBA legends, surpassed the $12.6 million record held by a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card. It now ranks as the second-most expensive sports collectible ever sold, behind only Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series “called shot” jersey ($24.1 million).

The winning bid came from a trio of buyers: Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary, mega-collector Matt Allen (aka Shyne150), and entrepreneur Paul Warshaw. Despite receiving only a PSA grade of 6, the card’s rarity — the only dual Logoman autograph of Jordan and Bryant ever produced — outweighed condition concerns.

The record-breaking sale coincided with what would have been Bryant’s 47th birthday, underscoring the enduring cultural and market power of two of the game’s greatest.
